How do you pray? There are many ways to pray. One of my favorite ways is to pray God’s Word. Use what God has already said to pray. Sometimes you can pray it exactly as it is written. Other times you need to change the words a little so they fit you.

Let’s focus on the beginning of Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21. You will be blessed as you meditate on these verses and pray them for yourself and for others who are close to you. There is so much in them. The more you meditate and ask God to reveal, the more you will learn and be blessed.

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. – Ephesians 3:14-15 NIV

The New Living Translation says, “When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. “

Here are some questions to think about:

  • What does “For this reason” refer to? Note Paul started Chapter 3 with the same words, but he got sidetracked. He also started his prayer in Ephesians 1:15 with the same words—looking back at what He’d just said.
  • Meditate on who Paul is talking to in these verses.
  • What do you think it means that every family in heaven and earth derives its name from the Father?
  • Ask God to reveal more to you from these verses. I’m not going to share much of what I’m learning, because I want the Lord to be able to talk to you from this amazing prayer.
