Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being. – Hebrews 8:1-2
Some things you can do today with God’s name
- What do you think it means “the sanctuary?”
- How is Jesus serving? What might He be doing? We just saw that He is sitting at God’s right hand. So, how can He be serving? Ask the Lord to reveal this mystery
- Hebrews 7:25 says, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”
Thank Him that He has gone ahead of you into heaven and is interceding for you. Intercede means to plead on another person’s behalf or to act as a mediator in a dispute. I can just imagine Jesus sitting next to the Majesty in heaven (actually, I can’t even begin to imagine that part—I’m sure it is so much more incredible than my mind can begin to imagine)… anyway I can imagine Jesus sitting next to the Father, on their thrones, saying something like, “Dad, I know Gaylyn (insert your name here) blew it again and she should be punished, but remember that I already paid for that sin long ago when I died on the cross.”
