With my own eyes I’ve seen your salvation; it’s now out in the open for everyone to see. – Luke 2:30-31 MSG
This name in Greek is Soterion, and in Hebrew it is Yeshua.
Lord, be merciful to us, for we have waited for you. Be our strong arm each day and our salvation in times of trouble. – Isaiah 33:2 NLT
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- In Luke 2, Simeon was praising God as He held the baby Jesus. He said that Jesus was God’s salvation. Since God didn’t need to be saved, it means that Jesus was God’s plan of salvation for us.
- The Greek word for salvation, soterion, means defender, defense or that which brings salvation. The Hebrew word for salvation is Yeshua, meaning deliverance, prosperity, health and victory. Think about these meanings. How do they affect how you see Jesus and what He did for you?
- As Simeon saw God’s salvation, we have also. We have experienced His salvation. If you’re not sure if you have experienced it, ask God to show you.
- What does it mean to you that Jesus came as your Salvation?
A Prayer for You
Yeshua, thank You that You came to earth over 2000 years ago, because You wanted a relationship with us. Thank You for coming as my defender, bringing me deliverance, prosperity, health and victory. Show me what I need to do to have a better relationship with You. Please reveal more of Yourself to me.
