The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD – Isaiah 11:2
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7

Some things you can do today with God’s name

  • In John 14:16, Jesus promised that the Father gives His children a Counselor, the Holy Spirit. How has the Spirit been your counselor?
  • Then in Acts 1:8, He promised power for us through the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit who rested on Jesus is also on us. That means we can have the same power as Jesus had, because He didn’t do anything in his own power. Everything he did was with the power He received from the Holy Spirit. If he had used his own power, we would not have been able to imitate Him. How have you seen God reveal His power in your life? If you don’t think you have seen His power, ask Him to reveal it to you today.
  • Thank God throughout this day for His gracious gifts of counsel and power through His spirit within you.
