The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. – Isaiah 11:2

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately

  • Proverbs 2:10-12; 3:13-14 says, “For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men. Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.” What can you learn from these verses?
  • Knowledge is knowing facts. Understanding is knowing the implication of the facts in real life and includes discernment. Wisdom is knowing how to use the knowledge you have.
  • We all need wisdom for our lives. Think about where you usually look for wisdom and understanding when you need them.
  • In what areas do you need wisdom or understanding today?
  • Romans 8:6 says, “letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace” (NLT). Ponder the implications of allowing the Spirit to control your mind.
  • I’m learning to rely on God’s wisdom and understanding. Every day I choose to give the Spirit control of my mind to direct it in the ways He wants it to go.
  • Ask God to give you more of His wisdom and understanding through His Spirit.

A Prayer for You

Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, I need You in my life. I constantly need wisdom, discernment and understanding. Teach me to turn to You first when I need direction. I choose to allow You to control my mind and my thoughts, Holy Spirit.
