Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. – Nehemiah 8:10b

Meditate on this name today. Please don’t get caught up in wondering if this is really a name for the Lord. Joy may be a modifier of the Lord or it may be a part of His name. Who cares? God wants to give you His joy. He wants to be your joy. And when He’s your joy, He is also your strength for whatever you are facing.

This morning as I was spending time with the Lord, I started laughing and couldn’t stop. You may be thinking, “Oh no, she’s lost it now!” Maybe I have. I’ve lost my inhibitions when it comes to celebrating Jesus and who He is and what He’s done. I was overwhelmed by the fact that I, little ole me, Gaylyn, can come right into the presence of the King of Kings, the One who created the universe. And not only can I come into His presence, He acknowledges me. He listens to me and He talks to me. Wouldn’t you think that Someone who is so important wouldn’t have time for the little, seemingly insignificant folks like me—and you? But He does. And you know why? Because I’m His precious little girl! And so are you—well, if you’re a guy, you are his precious son.

I trust you are not only getting to know our incredible God, but you are also getting a bigger picture of who you are.

That’s why I was laughing. I was overwhelmed by how great our God is, but also by the fact that He loves me and He speaks to me. In the natural, I am a nobody. But in God’s eyes, I’m important enough for Him to spend time with, to listen to and talk to me. WOW!! And that’s true for you too!

Meditate on the Lord being your joy.
