Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. – Hebrews 3:1 NIV
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- An apostle is a messenger, an ambassador or one sent on a mission. How does this name describe Jesus? How was He an apostle?
- This verse tells us to fix our thoughts on Jesus. I believe this little phrase is one of the main keys to our entire lives. No matter what is going on, if we choose to focus on Jesus, we will find joy and peace. And, an amazing thing happens: no matter how big our problems may seem, when we focus on Jesus (really focus on Him, not just talking about doing it), our problems begin to shrink in comparison. I did this when my second son, Daniel, was dying. I experienced so much joy and peace when I focused on the Lord, but so much discouragement and depression when I focused on my problems.
- Take some time right now to focus on Jesus, your ambassador, the one who represents you before the Father. Ask the Lord what He wants to show you today.
A Prayer for You
Jesus, I praise You that You are the Apostle, the One who came to earth on a mission from the Father. I want to keep my eyes focused on You, but I need Your help, because it is rarely easy.
