To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. – Revelation 3:14

Some things you can do today with God’s name

  • I’d encourage you to read it at least five times a day and begin to memorize it.
  • Amen means “so be it.” It comes from the Hebrew word Aman, translated faithful, established, believe and much more. In Greek, it means firm or trustworthy.
  • When Jesus said, “truly, truly” or “verily, verily,” He was using the word, Amen.
  • Amen is used in Deuteronomy 7:9, where it says, “the faithful God.” In other words, “the Amen God.” See also in Isaiah 49:7.
  • Praise God that He is the Amen, that He is faithful and trustworthy. We can stake our lives on Him.

Memorizing Scripture is so important and can transform your life. I’ve seen over and over how God brings verses that I’ve memorized back to me just when I need them. One example was when I was in the depths of despair after my fiancé was killed. During the dark, lonely nights, when no one was around, I lay awake sobbing. God would remind me of verses I had memorized, like John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” The Lord would say that over and over to me until the sobbing stopped and I could rest in His loving arms and fall asleep.

Take some time this week to learn this short verse. You will be blessed!
