How handsome you are, my lover! Oh, how charming! – Song of Solomon 1:16

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately

  • Dode means love or beloved, with a pronominal suffix meaning my. Jesus wants to be your Lover today. Do you believe that? What might that look like? Ask the Lord to show you.
  • Song of Solomon 2:16 says, “My lover is mine and I am his” (NLT).
  • Spend some special, intimate time with your Lover, the Lover of your soul.
  • Take some time to think about how you can make your heavenly Lover feel loved. If you’re not sure, ask Him. He enjoys spending time alone with you, when you focus on Him (not always asking Him for things.) Tell Him what you appreciate about Him.
  • Sometimes Valentine’s Day is a difficult time for those of us who are single. We see people who have a spouse or other person to be their lover. I’m so grateful that I have the greatest Lover I could ever have. He is the One who meets all my needs (although sometimes I confess I think I need a human to meet those needs.) He really is enough. He is all I need. He’s all you need. Whether you have someone who loves you deeply or not, take time today to spend with Jesus and grow in your love for Him.

A Prayer for You

My Lover, thank You for how much You love me. Thank You for all the ways You reveal Your love to me. (List some of them right now.) Help me to know You more intimately as My Lover.
