But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. – Psalm 59:16 NIV

Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately

  • The New Living Translation says: “For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.”
  • Think about how God has been your Refuge in Times of Trouble. What has that looked like? How has God shown you that He has been your place of safety?
  • If you are troubled in any way, remember you can run to the Lord and find protection and safety.
  • God has been a wonderful Refuge for me throughout my life. During one relationship when I felt battered, I could run to the Lord and find shelter. He was and is always a safe place for me to go.
  • Ask the Lord to show you what your Refuge looks like. Are you encircled in His arms? Or is He some kind of fortress with thick walls that no enemy can penetrate? He appears to us in different ways at different times in our lives. Take the time to see Him as your Refuge today.

A Prayer for You

Lord, thank You for being my Refuge, my Place of Safety from trouble. I know I can depend on You, because You never change. You are bigger than any enemy I might encounter. When I think I can find my own refuge, remind me that You are the best one there is.
