Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- Shem is translated as name, renown, fame and famous.
- There is power in the name of the Lord. Remember that God’s Name represents all that He is. When you say, “The Name of the Lord” you are referring to all that God is—His power, love, grace, holiness, mercy, compassion, justice, etc.
- In recent years, I’ve been learning to pray more with the power of Jesus’ name. As a result, I’ve seen so many miracles. I know I have a long way to go to really understand the power in His name.
- Think about this verse. The Lord’s name—the Lord Himself—is a place we can go for refuge and protection. Do you run to Him when you are feeling afraid or vulnerable? If not, why not?
- Ask the Lord to reveal more of Himself to you through this name and this verse.
A Prayer for You
Lord, I praise You for Your name and the power that is in it. Thank You for the protection and safety I can find in You and Your name. Teach me to trust You more and run to You whenever I’m afraid.
