For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death. – Psalm 48:14 NKJV
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- Consider this name today.
- The Hebrew word for God here is Elohim, meaning the Almighty God, the Creator. This word for God is plural, hinting at the Godhead: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Olam is everlasting. Ad is ever or everlasting.
- How long does it say God will be your God? Think about how long that is. He could have just said forever, but He added “and ever” to emphasize that He will never, ever stop being your God.
- What does it mean to you that God is your personal God forever and ever? How does that affect your life?
- He can also be the God of your marriage and family. My parents had Psalm 48:14 engraved in their wedding rings. It has guided their marriage.
- Talk to God about this name. Ask Him to show you more of what it means to you.
A Prayer for You
God, I’m so grateful that You are my God, You are my family’s God, and not just for today. You are our God forever and ever. I don’t have to worry or wonder if You are going to leave me because I sin. Thank You that You’ll never stop being my God.
