But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. – Psalm 3:3
This name in Hebrew is Magen.
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- Magen means shield, buckler and armed.
- There are four names of God in this verse. The name Lord is YHWH, Yahweh or Jehovah. I want to encourage you to memorize this verse. Write it on a 3×5 card or a sticky note and put it where you’ll see it every day.
- Meditate on this name today. Normally I think of a shield as being something a person holds in front of himself. But this verse says God is a shield around you. Think about that. I’m so glad to know that God is all around me shielding me from the enemy. What does that mean to you today?
- How has God been a shield around you?
- How do you need Him to be your protection?
A Prayer for You
Thank You, Lord, that You are a shield that is all around me. I don’t have to be afraid of anyone or anything, because You are always there to protect me. Help me to learn to recognize Your presence and protection more each day.
