For your Maker is your husband—the LORD Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. – Isaiah 54:5 NIV
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- Baal in Hebrew means marry or husband.
- Think about this: the One who created you, made you, is your husband. If He created you, then He knows you—better than you even know yourself. Imagine a Husband who knows you better than you know yourself. He knows what you need or want before you even mention it. God is a perfect Husband, the best one you could ever find. It might be easier for those of us who are single to see God as a husband. However, regardless of whether you are married or not, God still wants to be your Husband.
- Meditate on this name. How has God been your Husband?
- How would you like Him to be a Husband to you?
- What does it mean to you today that God is your Husband? Ask Him to reveal more about what that means.
A Prayer for You
Lord, thank You that You are my Husband. You love me as Your lover and Your bride. Thank You for being my protector, provider, best friend and so much more. When I desire a human to fill my needs, remind me that You are the best Husband I could ever want.
