I love you, God—you make me strong. God is bedrock under my feet, the castle in which I live, my rescuing knight. My God—the high crag where I run for dear life. – Psalm 18:1-2 MSG
Steps on Your Journey to Know God More Intimately
- I love the way the Message translates some verses.
- The medieval knight was equivalent to the modern tank. He had multiple layers of armor covering him and could easily plow through any foot soldiers standing in his way.
- I remember being over in England in about 1990 with my parents and sisters (we were all adults). We went to a castle that had an event going on with knights riding around on horses. I got my picture taken with one knight, although I have no idea where the picture is now.
- What is a knight like?
- God is your Rescuing Knight. Think about that truth. How is God like a Rescuing Knight to you?
- In what ways do you need the Lord to be your Rescuing Knight? If you’re not sure, ask Him to show you.
A Prayer for You
God, thank You that You are My Rescuing Knight. You are the one who protects me and rescues me from the enemy, as well as sometimes You rescue me from myself. I choose to trust You to be my protection.
